Hello.  My name is Richard.  I have been a piano and voice teacher for about 17 years.

I started playing piano when I was seven years old.

During my youth I lived in Europe for a few years where I studied with piano instructors in Holland and England. I also traveled everywhere in Europe.

In the late 1980's I moved back to the USA and during high school continued study with a music teacher from California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) and then later attended the San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM).

After high school I attended the Conservatory of Music at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California (UOP).  While there I earned a Bachelors of Music in Piano Performance in 1996.  

While at UOP and beyond, I studied vocal opera and theater song. As First Tenor I also traveled on tours throughout Europe with a competitive choir and performed in concerts with opera and orchestra.

In 1990 I began teaching private piano lessons. I was still studying at UOP. There I gained interest in making teaching my full-time endeavor.

In 1993 I began teaching at a piano store in Stockton California. I enjoyed being able to teach outside my home. I continued teaching at the store for about 12 years.

In 1993 I also became a Cantor (singer with regular weekly position) in Stockton and performed vocal song for weekly events and special occasions including Weddings. I accompanied on piano and performed in a Mall as solo entertainer (pianist) as well as various other venues.

Some exciting experiences have been working in a recording studio as sound/mixing engineer, composer and editor for a few years. I regularly used MIDI digital synthesizers, audio equipment and MIDI programming.

To try something new, I also worked at a trendy pop radio station conducting marketing research and learned about jingle ads and promo spots. I gained a first-hand view of how music is marketed and distributed as well as audience trends in various music styles (and the audiences who enjoy those styles).

In 2004 I decided to move to Reno, Nevada USA.  My family had been in Reno for 15 years already so I decided to make the switch. When I first arrived in Reno I started working as part-time teacher at a music store. I also worked part-time as a salesperson in a furniture store.

My hobby is computers and technology. While at the furniture store part-time, I built their website and became their computer Network Administrator. I have since left the furniture store and am now a full-time piano and vocal teacher again.

I have continued to build my studio up and have nearly filled my schedule while teaching at a Music Store here in Reno, Nevada USA.
